ADOPTION

Most often, our rescues have had a rough start to their lives or have been abandoned by people they loved. Because of this, we take our adoption process seriously. We want to make sure each and every rescue finds their forever home.

Our adoption process includes filling out an application, reference checks and a home visit. Once you fill out an application, we will review it, call your references, and then contact you to ask and answer any questions that you (or we) may have. Once this is complete, we deliver the rescue animal that you have chosen to your home and do a home check while we are there. You will also sign a contract to make your adoption official.

We also want to make sure that everyone (humans, resident animals, and new rescue animal(s)) are happy, so we like to offer trial runs before an adoption becomes official. We still go through the adoption process above, but the adoption does not have to be official until you are sure that your new rescue is a good fit for your home. You get two weeks to make sure that everyone in the home feels comfortable before making your final decision.

Our kittens and cats come neutered or spayed, up to date on FVRCP and Rabies shots, microchipped, tested for FIV and FeLV, dewormed and free of fleas. In order for us to have all of this done and to continue our work, we require an adoption fee for all rescues.

Adoption Fees:
Kitten under 6 months= $150 for one / $250 for two
Kittens 6 months- 1 year= $125
Cats 1 year to 5 years= $100
Cats over 5 years old= $75
Rabbits= $100 for one/ $200 for bonded pair

Please note the following BEFORE applying for a cat or kitten:

1) Cats and kittens may NEVER be declawed. There are NO exceptions.
2) If, at any time, you can no longer care for the cat or kitten that you adopted, you MUST return them to Meraki Animal Sanctuary. You are not allowed to surrender them to a shelter, other rescue, or a friend. Arrangements may be taken (through us) if a family member or friend would like to adopt a cat or kitten that you previously owned.
3) Cats and kittens should be adopted as FAMILY PETS and COMPANIONS, not mice hunters. If you need to get rid of mice, please call an exterminator.

You will be asked to sign a contract at the time of adoption agreeing to the above statements. The contract has legal binding and legal actions can and will be taken if any of the above agreements are broken.

Thank you for understanding what is in the best interests of our rescues.

If you agree to the above, please fill out our application below:
